Description

This is a remake of an old painting I did a long time ago. I was reminiscing old high school memories. I remembered my senior prank. Well, it's not really my senior prank because I didn't know anything about it. A group of fellow classmates went and filled the concrete pit in the middle of the courtyard at my high school and made it into something like a pond. They put goldfish in it. Funny right? But as morning came, most of the water drained and a couple of seniors took out the goldfish out and left them in sinks in the girls restrooms. They were still alive. A girl tried to move them where they can be in water, but the people who put them there got angry about that. They thought it was funny to watch goldfish suffocate and die. It's not like a cockroach that you can just smash and be done with, end of story, quick death, but it's another creature slowly, painfully dying. And I thought, you know, if it were a person, would it be funny? It's only okay because it's just a goldfish, but what if some higher being did something like that to a human, would it be funny? What if someone did that to a dog? And that got me thinking about animals people are close to, robots, and A.I.s too. I started to think about how we define "alive" and "living things." If robots, A.I.s and such are a part of our society as an everyday sort of thing, I know people would beat up on them just because they could. Just like how those kids let that goldfish suffocate because they could with no consequences. It made me think that if people can just do things like that just because they can, it shows that they treat life like dirt. It shows me that they, if there are no consequences, can treat another living human like that if they could and that thought sickened me a little.
It doesn't matter whether it's a human, a goldfish, or an A.I. robot...I believe that anything that is living or at least an imitation of a living thing should be treated with respect as we should respect life. Not to sound like a crazy PETA fanatic, but animals suffer too.
So that's what I was thinking about when I was remaking this old dusty painting.

....just noticed how long this is...

As I sat here looking at this 'old dusty painting' as you say. It got me thinking how how stupid some humans can be. That a A.I. would be a more suitable parent than half of what we have today. Not to mention it would probably have more feelings than what most humans show today. It nearly made me wanna cry thinking about that. How sad. But in regards to the painting I couldn't help but fave. His face is so caring and the child is very content in his arms. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words.

...I just realized how long this was too XP
